SUMMARY:Term 2 2026 | Wednesday Art Class with Kerry Gulliver
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the stimulus of doing art in a group. \nWhile individual guidance comprises the main bulk of the class\, I will also be doing regular demonstrations on anything related to painting and drawing\, such as collage\, paint transfer\, frottage\, sgraffito\, dry brushing\, stencilling\, and more. If you are new to art I can help you get started on the basics\, such as looking at line\, colour\, perspective. \nYou are welcome to join the class no matter what your skill levels are. If you are unsure of the how to begin\, just turn up on the first day and I can help determine the best approach for you. \nThe class is quite casual\, with many of the ongoing students working on their own projects\, taking guidance as needed. \nKerry Gulliver is a skilled artist and educator who has exhibited regularly in Armidale\, Sydney\, and Tamworth. She has trained in visual arts\, animation\, colour theory\, and graphic design; she works regularly with community and other groups to run a range of art courses. \nDates |  Wednesday April 29  – Wednesday  July 1 (10 weeks)  \n\nTime | 10:00am – 3:00pm \nVenue | Packsaddle Studio (located at the rear of NERAM ) \nCost |  Friends of NERAM/Culture Club Members – $329\, General – $362 \nMaterials | BYO – please see below for a list of recommended supplies \nMin 10/Max 18 \n \n\n  \nFor more information please email foh@neram.dev.nucleoserver.com \nImage | Courtesy of Kerry Gulliver \n\nMaterials required for class:\n\nBring any reference material that inspires you\, whether photographic\, or of other artwork. It’s a good way to get started. I have on display art books for referencing also. If you like to draw bring Cartridge paper (A3 or A4 size)\, pencils in a range of hardness (but more in the soft range)\, rubbers\, crayons\, coloured pencils and any other materials that you like to work with. \nFor painting\, acrylic paint is the most practical (some people are using oils or watercolours). You will also need brushes\, canvas or paper. Heavier papers are better to paint on\, such as 180gsm or higher. I like the medium or rough textured paper. Cheaper paper is OK for experimentation. \nTerms and Conditions\n\nAll bookings for events\, art classes and workshops require payment in full at the time of booking\nA minimum number of 10 students required for classes to proceed\, please book and pay by Thursday 23 April 2026 to ensure classes go ahead\nPlease be aware that once bookings close\, we are unable to offer a refund\nIf the class does not proceed\, you will be refunded any cash amount\nNERAM events have a limited capacity and use a ticketing system. Bookings are essential\nStudent contact details may be passed on to facilitators for communication purposes

SUMMARY:A Journey in Miniature
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by an artistic practice that span centuries\, A Journey in Miniature celebrates the enduring allure of small-scale art—from the illuminated manuscripts of the medieval world to the intimate portrait miniatures of the Romantic era\, and into the vibrant diversity of contemporary practice. \nPresented by the Australian Society of Miniature Art\, this exhibition brings together an extraordinary range of works that demonstrate the precision\, skill and imagination demanded by the form. Working within the discipline of scale—where every detail is heightened and nothing can be overlooked\, artists explore subjects limited only by their imagination\, across painting\, drawing\, printmaking and mixed media. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Australian Society of Miniature Art (AMSA)\n\nThe Australian Society of Miniature Art (NSW) Inc. was founded in 1985 when there was a growing worldwide renaissance of miniature art and interest in its contemporary\nexpression.\n\nOne of the aims of the society is to introduce the viewing public to the background of the field and show the development of the miniature and its place in today’s world. Many of the artists are professionals of long-standing who reside Australia-wide.\n\nASMA has held an Annual National Awards exhibition for over 20 years\, which is open to any Australian artist working in miniature.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Journey in Miniature will be on at NERAM from 6pm Friday 1st May until 4pm Sunday 7th June. \n\n\n\n\nOur opening night event will run from 6pm – 8pm on Friday 1st May.\n\n\n\nImage credit: Ann Milch\, Dutch Memories\, 2023. SUMMARY:Habitat: Christine James
DESCRIPTION:This body of work by Christine James explores the upland wetland of Little Llangothlin on Banbai Country\, tracing the artist’s encounters with its unique plant and bird life through intimate\, layered paintings that reflect the fragile biodiversity of Australian wetlands. Moving between flora and avifauna\, the series becomes a visual meditation on habitat\, ecological change and the quiet complexity of this Ramsar-listed landscape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHabitat will exhibit at NERAM from the 1st of May until the 7th of June. \n\nOpening night will run from 6pm-8pm on Friday 1st May.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImage credit: Christine James\, Community Day Swamp Hens and Coots Billy Bung Lagoon\, 2025. SUMMARY:Opening Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening night of two exciting new exhibitions – Habitat: Christine James & A Journey in Miniature. \nHabitat\nChristine James’ works in Habitat look at aspects of the upland wetland and Ramsar Listed reserve\, Little Llangothlin\, on Banbai Country. They form a continuance of the concerns outlined in her previous works about other Australian wetlands and their catchments and explore in paint Australia’s rapidly disappearing biodiversity. \n  \nA Journey in Miniature\nThis new exhibition from the Australian Society of Miniature Art will open a window into the world of contemporary miniature art. \nWhile miniature artworks convey all the beauty and power of a larger work\, they possess the added advantage of being a particularly personal object that draws the viewer in close\, creating a greater sense of intimacy with the work. \nMiniature artworks can be no more than 40cm perimeter and the subject matter must also be miniaturised\, with the technique in keeping with the spirit of miniaturisation. \n\nOpening Date: Fri 1st May 2026 \nTime: 6pm \nLocation: New England Regional Art Museum \nCost: FREE \n\n\n\n\nImage credit: A Journey in Miniature: Australian Society of Miniature Art\, 2026

SUMMARY:Experimenta Emergence: Multi-Sensory Haptic Vest Experience
DESCRIPTION:Moirai\, Thread of Life Multi Sensory Haptic Vest Experience\n\nAbout the Event: \nHaptic sensory vests are some of the latest technologies that allow audiences to experience music and artwork in multi-sensory modes. We have created a sensory score for Moirai\, Thread of Life so that audience members of all abilities\, and including those who are Deaf or Blind\, can feel key aspects of this screen-based film work\, through their bodies\, in an easy to wear\, light vest that has 23 vibrating nodes. \nPlease note: you will be sent a more precise time for your experience closer to the event. \n\n\nAbout the Exhibition: \nExperimenta Emergence intertwines the work of contemporary artists who critically examine our changing world to reveal ways humanity might confront and adapt to emerging challenges now and in the near future. \nAt a time when the unknown and maybe the unknowable is building like a wave\, these artists encourage us to question our shifting realities. What are the forces shaping our worlds? How might we encounter\, counter or adapt to the transformations of the human and more-than-human world we are part of? Can we alter current trajectories? \nThe art works these Australian and international artists have created – virtual realities\, participatory works\, and speculative fictions – will provoke you to ask questions about where we\, individually and collectively\, are going … and where we might want to go. \n \nImage: Ina Conradi & Mark Chavez\, Moirai\, Thread of Life\, 2023. © Conradi Chavez
