DESCRIPTION:NERAM Kids: After School Art program for 6 – 9 year olds. \nAcross the term\, children will experiment with a range of materials and techniques. including painting\, drawing and collage. All the while exploring concepts such as colour\, pattern\, shape\, and self-expression. Artists may include Vincent van Gogh\, Pablo Picasso\, Claude Monet\, Yayoi Kusama\, Henri Matisse\, Frida Kahlo\, Georgia O’Keeffe and Keith Haring. \nThe aim is to build confidence\, creativity and curiosity\, while giving students a sense of connection to well-known artworks in an accessible and engaging way. \n Spots are limited\, so book early! \nVisits to the gallery will also be included. As will be using messy materials in some classes\, please ensure kids have an apron\, or wear clothes that can afford to get a little paint on them. We also recommend a water bottle. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the stimulus of doing art in a group. \nWhile individual guidance comprises the main bulk of the class\, I will also be doing regular demonstrations on anything related to painting and drawing\, such as collage\, paint transfer\, frottage\, sgraffito\, dry brushing\, stencilling\, and more. If you are new to art I can help you get started on the basics\, such as looking at line\, colour\, perspective. \nYou are welcome to join the class no matter what your skill levels are. If you are unsure of the how to begin\, just turn up on the first day and I can help determine the best approach for you. \nThe class is quite casual\, with many of the ongoing students working on their own projects\, taking guidance as needed. \nKerry Gulliver is a skilled artist and educator who has exhibited regularly in Armidale\, Sydney\, and Tamworth. You will also need brushes\, canvas or paper. Heavier papers are better to paint on\, such as 180gsm or higher. I like the medium or rough textured paper. DESCRIPTION:A weekly\, self-directed\, painting and drawing group for experienced artists. Meeting once a week in Packsaddle Studio (located at the rear of the NERAM building) this is an opportunity to come work alongside other experienced artists\, network\, learn and be inspired. This class does not have a regular tutor but each week\, the session finishes with a group critique to review the day’s efforts and give and receive feedback. \nDates | Thursday April 30th – July 2nd (10 weeks) \nTime | 10am – 3pm \nVenue | Packsaddle Studio\, located at the back of NERAM. SUMMARY:Soft Toy Taxidermy | School Holiday Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Create a wonderfully weird creature and display it like a museum specimen! \nIn this fun\, hilarious and imaginative workshop\, children will transform ordinary soft toys into extraordinary creatures using creativity\, construction skills and a little bit of artistic mischief! \nParticipants will design and build their own unique soft toy creature using a range of toys\, fabrics\, accessories and embellishments. Add extra limbs\, tails\, horns\, wings\, eyes and other surprising features to create a one-of-a-kind character. \nOnce complete\, each creature will be mounted onto a display frame\, just like a curious specimen in a natural history museum. The result is a quirky artwork that’s equal parts sculpture\, storytelling and imagination. \nThis workshop encourages creative thinking\, design skills\, problem-solving and character development while introducing participants to the playful contemporary art practice of soft toy taxidermy. \n \n\nWhat to bring: \n· All materials supplied\n· Bring your own soft toy if you’d like to give an old favourite a new life\n· No sewing experience needed\n· Mount your creature on a display frame to take home and hang on the wall \nTake home a truly unique artwork! \n \n\nEVENT INFORMATION \nDate: Wednesday 8th July \nTime: 10.30am -12.30pm \nCost: $34 – $39 per participant \nAge: Recommended for ages 10+. Children aged 6–9 years are welcome with a parent or guardian assisting throughout the workshop. \nPlease note: Hot glue guns will be used during this activity. Parent supervision and assistance is required for younger participants. \nBookings essential. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the opening of the annual UNESAP Let’s Hang It! exhibition. \nDiscover the talents and artwork of school students from across Northern NSW who have entered into the University of New England Schools Acquisitive Art Prize (UNESAP) and have been selected to be shown in the Let’s Hang It! exhibition. \nIn 2026\, there are 60 finalists selected from more than 700 student entries representing 43 schools in regional NSW. \nUNESAP is an annual event which provides New England/North West students\, from Kindergarten to Year 12\, the opportunity to take part in a large art prize\, be part of the wider creative community and to have their work professionally hung in an art museum. \n \nExhibition opening from 5.00pm Friday 24 July\, awards presentation will begin promptly at 5.30pm. \n
